Envinmental Science Hydrologic Cycle Essay - 550 Words

Envinmental Science: Hydrologic Cycle (Essay Sample) Content: Hydrologic cycleName:Course:Professor:Institution:City and State:Date:As a water molecule, my cycle begins with my evaporation from the surface of the ocean. During this time, I am moist and I transform from liquid to gas form, due to the solar radiation as I am consequently lifted up into the overlying atmosphere. Eventually, in the form of water vapor, I cool to form liquid water droplets in the air as I undergo condensation to form fog and clouds. In this moisture state, I then undergo transportation around the globe until i return to the surface of the earth as precipitation. I am in a condensed state in form of rain or fog drips, snow, sleet, hail, and graupel (Drozdov GrigorÊÂ ¹eva, 2005).Once i reach the ground, one of two processes may occur, which include; one, I may evaporate back into the atmosphere or two, I may penetrate the surface and become ground water. During this time, I may also enter the body of other living organisms such as plants and anim als (Kaan, 2013). Roots of plants absorb me through the stems where eventually, I am released back into the atmosphere through the leaves by transpiration method in form of water vapor. As underground water, I either seep my way to into the oceans, rivers, and streams, or I am released back into the atmosphere through transpiration.Additionally, some of my part flows from the ground surface into the ground through the infiltration process and becomes soil moisture (Walker, 2012). My part that remains as balances on the earth's surface is in form of runoff, which emptie...
